    FORTY-NINTH ANNUAL MEETING

A call for papers and posters for presentations at the 49th annual meeting of The Arizona-Nevada Academy of Science, April 9, 2005 has gone out. This year's meeting will be hosted at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

    Attention all Members:

We urge your attendance and presentation of research results at the Arizona-Nevada Academy of Science Annual Conference. Sessions are planned for the following disciplines: Anthropology, Biology, Chemistry, Conservation, Geography, Geology, Hydrology, Psychology and Science Education. The session chairs are listed at http://www.geo.arizona.edu/anas/secchair.html. Any results in these fields of study may be presented in poster format. The annual meeting is open to all Faculty and their students (graduate and undergraduate) and we solicit your help in calling this to the attention of your colleagues who are not members but are interested in attending and presenting papers.

If you have any questions about presenting at UNLV, or if you have any pre-conference questions, please contact Kathy Lauckner. Information about where students can stay, etc. will be forthcoming on the Academy's web site.

All instructions for the format of papers and posters can be found on the ANAS web site http://www.geo.arizona.edu/anas/.

    MEETING REPORT- JANAS GOES ELECTRONIC

At its December forth meeting, the ANAS Board voted to publish JANAS online. This will cost the Academy nothing and will help delay an impending dues increase. For 2006, there will be no dues increase, but persons wanting paper copies of JANAS will pay a $5.00 fee.

    Visit the SO web site!

    SCIENCE OLYMPIAD JOINS ANAS

Also at the December 4 meeting, the ANAS Board met with representatives of "SO" Science Olympiad Division C (high school). ANAS will now be the primary not-for-profit supporter for SO, requiring changes to the ANAS by laws (see below).

Science Bowl is an allied organization that meets concurrently with "SO" Web Site

The bylaws are changed by vote of the members present at the annual meeting. Click [here] to read the bylaws.

    ANAS MEMBER INPUT NEEDED

Please read these suggested changes to the ANAS By-Laws. They will be voted-on at the Annual Business Luncheon next April. Please visit the SO http://www.gc.maricopa.edu/biology/so/ and Science Bowl http://www.wapa.gov/dsw/scibowl/ web sites.
