OVER 80 AND "GOING STRONG"

The Arizona Republic featured Lorenzo Lisonbee in their May 24,2001, Valley and State section. Dr. Lisonbee, a former Professor at ASU is 86 years old. Dr. Lisonbee planned a trip to Taipei, Tai- wan, for a Kiwanis International Convention this past summer with a side trip to South Korea. Dr. Lisonbee practices yoga and isometric exercises and walks instead of runs. His advice is to "Eat your five veggies and fruits every day. Avoid sweets and fats and most importantly, stay interested in something or several things. No matter what, you need to have passions in life. It can be golf, volunteering or whatever your heart desires."

MEMORIUM W.L. MINCKLEY

Arizona's premier ichthyologist, W.L. Minckley passed away on June 22, 2001. Phil Pister of the Desert Fishes Counci1, said of him, "Minck was a giant in his field, and the legacy he left us through his publications, graduate students, wisdom, and philosophy will stand forever as one of the great monuments in the field of fishery science. He was indeed as unique as the species he described."

APPLICATION FOR
RESEARCH GRANTS-IN-AID

The Arizona-Nevada Academy of Science will award Grants-in Aid in amounts up to $250 to students who are enrolled in a graduate program at one of the Universities in Nevada or Arizona and who are members of the Academy.
